Maoist strike disrupted life for second day
Kathmandu, 3 May: A Maoist nation-wide strike paralyzed normal life throughout the country for the second consecutive day Monday.
Dancing and singing Maoists came out on the streets of the capital disrupting the movement of people and vehicles as schools, businesses and factories remained closed.
Maoists are demanding a national government under their leadership to complete the peace process and promulgate a constitution by the 28 May deadline.
Three parties will meet again Monday in an attempt to end the prolonged deadlock; Sunday’s meeting was inconclusive as Maoists demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Madhav Kumat Nepal as a pre-condition for a resolution.

April tourist arrivals up
Kathmandu, 3 May: Tourist arrivals surged 2.6 percent in April compared to the same month the previous year.
Altogether 49,096 tourists visited Nepal in April, Nepal Tourism Board said.
Arrivals from China surged 45.3 percent.
Arrivals from USA and Canada increased 3 and 8.3 percent respectively.
