PM Nepal comes public fire from own party

Kathmandu, 23 May: Embattled Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal came under direct public fire from own party –the UML.
The party heading a 22-party coalition Sunday objected to his comment last week the constituent assembly (CA) was a Maoist ‘brainchild’.
A statement said the party’s ‘ serious attention’ had been drawn at a time when Maoists are demanding the resignation of Nepal and a section in the party is demanding his resignation to pave the way for a joint national unity government with Maoists.
NC leaders have also been laying claim to the leadership to a new government after the ouster of Nepal.
The Nepal government is completing one year in office this month after the ouster of the Maoist-led government of Prachanda.

Doctors’ ultimatum to government [DEVELPOING STORY]

Kathmandu, 23 May: Nepal Medical Association (NMA) Sunday issued la 72-hour ultimatum government to furnish details on the probably abduction of Dr Bhaktaman Shrestha five days in from Bhaktapur accusing government it wasn’t serious.
NMA threatened the closure of all medical institutions if demands aren’t met.
The association demanded the formation of a high-level commission to probe the possible abduction.

Maoists boycott NDC meet [DEVELOPING STORY]

Kathmandu, 23 May: Eighteen UCPN (Maoist) members of the National Development Council (NDC) Sunday boycotted its two-day meet inaugurated by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Maoists said the meeting’s deliberations and conclusions were meaningless without the participation of the main opposition.
The NDC is empowered to approve the next three-year development plan prepared by the National Planning Commission.
