13 Chinese Nepali labourers injured

Kathmandu, 17 June: Thirteen Chinese and Nepali workers of a tunneling work of the Maleumchi drinking water project in Sindhupalchowk were injured in a clash Tuesday.
Two Chinese workers are serious.
Nepali workers were demanding the reinstatement of a sacked escalator operator.
A Chinese company is working on the multi-million project to divert Malehmchi river’s water to feed thirsty residents of the Valley.

Govt. employees stop work for two hours

Kathmandu, 17 June: Government employees Thursday stopped work for two days at offices nation-wide from 10 in the morning.
They were protesting what they called police excesses Wednesday when representatives of Nepal Nijamati Karmachary Sanghatan went office of Minister Rabindra Shrestha to the ministry to present demands.
The union demanded civil servants promoted automatically be empowered to exercise responsibilities.
Police said civil servants were arrested for breaking prohibitory orders around Singha Durbar.
Promoted officials haven’t been entrusted work and responsibilities.
