Details of govt. effort to end crisis
Kathmandu, 29 June: In the first government bid to break a prolonged political impasse, Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachedhar held separate discussions
with UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal and NC Vice-chairman Ram Chandra Paudel.
Gachedhar, who is chief of MJFK, led a team of 10 ministers from different parties supporting the coalition as they talked with the top leaders of two ruling parties.
The government team and two leaders discussed issues that are aggravating the political crisis, including integration and resettlement of 19,000 Maoist combatants.
Gachedhar said the prolonged deadlock shouldn’t propel an economic crisis.
Ruling and opposition parties have failed to negotiate an outlet.

Heavy rain causes destruction in Sankhuwasabha
Kathmandu, 29 June: At least 400 persons of 56 houses were displaced following heavy rain that lashed Sichuwala khola VDC is the eastern hill district of Sankhuwasabha, local officials said.
Two schools, VDC development office and a suspension bridge were washed away.
The VDC is two days’ walk from district headquarters.
The damage could be worse.
Monsoon has just set in.
