Foreign officers participate in army course

Kathmandu, 15 June: For the first time officers from foreign countries, including India and China, are participating in a command and staff training course organized by Nepal Army.
A Lt. Col. from India, two majors from China and a major each from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are participating in the 17th course that began Monday.
The course was launched by Lt Gen Toran Bahadur Singh.
Altogether 28 majors of Nepal Army, some officers of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department are also participating.
Altogether 557 officers have completed the courses.

Prachanda presents political report

Kathmandu, 15 June: Chairman Prachanda Tuesday presented his political report for approval of the politburo Tuesday.
The verbal report suggests the main opposition should stay in the opposition after ruling parties rejected a call for formation of a national unity government led by Maoists, according to a meet source.
A section led by Dr Baburam Bhattarai is pressing for an alternative candidate of Maoists to lead a unity government.
A meeting of party officials had earlier suggested Prachanda should lead a government.
Discussions on the report begins Wednesday.
