Maoists to intensify parliamentary protests
Kathmandu, 22 June: Maoists have decided to intensify parliamentary protests against the government of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal which hasn’t been able to present its annual programme and policy at a delayed meting of parliament.
Vice-chairman Narayan Kazi Shrestha said after Tuesday’s extended meet the main opposition will obstruct discussions on the budget in the legislature and won’t let it be approved.
Shrestha said most politburo members demanded the immediate resignation of the premier and the formation of a national unity government.
He also said the party will have no alternative but to come out on the streets without an end to the impasse.
The meeting that began 15 June is expected to conclude Wednesday.
