Rato Machindranath photo display Sunday

Kathmandu, 27 June: The bhoto of Rato Machindranath is being displayed at Jawalakhel Sunday.
A public holiday in the Valley has been announced.
The president, prime minister and senior government officials will view the bhoto displayed from three corners of the chariot at as they run shoulders with thousands of devotees.
The country’s longest festival ends with the display.
Pre-monsoon showers this year have been normal.

Birgunj deserted

Kathmandu, 27 June: The border town of Birgunj was deserted Sunday one day after Hindu Yuba Manch Chairman Kashi Tiwari was gunned down by assailants in his hometown.
A strike was called to protest the killing.
He’s being cremated Sunday.
Tiwari came into prominence after a brutal attack on Maoists during the failed nationwide six-day crippling nationwide to bring down the government of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.

President chief guest at the Shanghai Expo closing ceremony

Kathmandu, 27 June: President Dr Yam BaranYadav will be chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Shanghai Expo on 31 October, Annapurna Post reports.
Foreign Secretary Madan Kumar Bhattarai said the programme for the president’s visit has been fixed.

Nepse loses 11.54 points

Kathmandu, 27 June: Nepse lost 11.54 points at the end of five-day trading last week.
The market opened at 474.99 points Sunday and closed at 463.45 points Thursday.
Altogether 428,700 shares were traded in 5,158 transactions for Rs 143.61 million as turnover increased 38.42 percent compared to the previous week.
Commercial bank shares lost 14.39 points.
