Speaker continues consultations with party leaders

Kathmandu, 14 June: Concerned with the delay in convening budget session of parliament, Speaker Subansh Nemwang consulted the UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal Monday amid plans to hold discussions with min opposition leader and Maoist Chairman Prachanda.
Nemwang held separate discussions with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and NC Acting Chairman Suhil Koirala Sunday.
Numwang asked the premier to implement the 28 May three-point agreement signed by Maoists, NC and UML to extend the two-year tenure of
the constituent assembly (CA) by one year until 28 May 2011.
Point two of the agreement—the CA extension- has been implemented while two other points remain to be implemented 17 days after the tripartite agreement.
Nemwang called for consensus to implement the agreement whose non-implementation has ’frustrated’ people.
Maoists claim there was an agreement Nepal would resign five days following the understanding while ruling parties NC and UML say the agreement called for simultaneous implementation of all three points.
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav was scheduled to address parliament Monday to announce the government’s policies and programmes.
Maoists have opposed to disrupt parliament proceedings without the premier’s resignation.
