Three-party meet ends abruptly

Kathmandu, 27 June: A meeting of Maoists, NC and UML ended abruptly Sunday without discussing constitution drafting after the 28 May tripartite agreement.
The first meet agreed to push constitution drafting after the 28 May accord that signed a three-point agreement.
Maoists said Sunday work of drafting can’t proceed until the government chief resigns.

A rejuvenated PM hit back at party and some sections in it

By Bhola B Rana

Kathmandu, 27 June: A rejuvenated Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, who had considered resigning under mounting Maoist pressure has now started hitting out at his party and some members close to Maoists almost calling them traitors.
Nepal has not only resurrected but has even said he won’t resign.
“A tendency has emerged to view Maoists as revolutionaries and let down the party. The tendency to surrender to Maoists must end.
“These persons who are saddened when Maoists are in an awkward position and are encouraged when they are on the upswing are harming the party.
“They are happy when legs of UML activists are smashed and consider the leg smashers as revolutionaries. Such tendencies prevail in the party; there’s need for new awareness in the organization,” the government chief, who was once general secretary said.
‘Others didn’t understand the conspiracy, moves and disgruntling
of the Maoists; some friends in the UML also didn’t.
“Some leaders in UML said the prime minister should resign and kneel down to Maoists and also spread rumours there will be civil war, bloodshed in the country.
“I learnt I would be encircled and dragged by 25,000 to force my resignation. Am I such a coward I can’t defend the country and can’t face the challenge to capture power?” he angrily said in Lalitpur Saturday calling Maoists leg smashers.
The main opposition brought Nepal to parliament after he laws defeated from two constituencies in constituent assembly elections in April 2008 to make him chairman of the main constitution drafting committee.
Eventually he landed in Baluwatar.
