President asks parties to assembly consensus govt. (DEVELOPING STORY)

Kathmandu, 1 July: President DR Ram Baran Yadav asked all parties in parliament Thursday to assemble a consensus government by 8 July.
He said this is an appeal following Wednesday’s resignation of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal who was asked to continue in office by the president until a new government is formed.
The president will ask parties to form a majority government if parties fail to assembly a consensus government in one week.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nepal attended a cabinet meet Thursday morning and directed ministers not to take important decisions following his resignation.
Government Spokesman Shanker Pokhrel later described the government as ‘caretaker’.
