Sixth round vote or PM 5 Sept.
Kathmandu, 23 Aug.: Sixth round vote to elect successor of caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal will now be held in parliament 5 September after inconclusive elections Monday, Speaker Subash Nemwang announced.
Both candidates Maoist Chairman Prachanda and NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel couldn’t muster the required 301 majority vote.
UML and a front of four Madesh parties again stayed neutral in the 601-member parliament leading to the standoff.
Nepal resigned two months ago as government chief and continues in office without election of his replacement.
