MAOISTS WRITE TO UN

Kathmandu, 14 Sept.: Maoists wrote to the UN Tuesday informing the world body they concluded a four-point agreement with government Monday to extend the tenure of UMNMIN without changing its mandate for four months.
UNMIN tenure ends Wednesday.
The main opposition had earlier sent a separate letter to the world body asking the tenure be extended for six months without change of original mandate,
In a separate letter, government asked for only a four-month extension by taking Nepal Army off the UNMIN watch.
British Ambassador John Tucknott said the government letter was ‘ambiguous’ but there is no ambiguity as claimed .
The government letter clearly states only Maoist PLA should be under UNMIN watch.
Government and Maoists have agreed to a four-month UNMIN extension—the last.
The UN supported by USA, UK and France—three western donors to UNMIN activities in Nepal- doesn’t to retreat despite heavy pressure in Nepal. Only Maoists want their presence in a country that was never colonized.
UNMIN is the face of foreign presence in Nepal.
Interestingly, Maoists complain of foreign interference put push presence of UN in Nepal o manage political affairs.
The UN isn’t the decision maker but the world capitals.
UN public posture in propelling anti-government Maoist activities prolonging the conclusion of a peace agreement and drafting of a democratic constitution.
NEPAL DOES NOT WANT A COMMMUNIST STATE. PERIOD..
UN officials have repeatedly threatened a pullout which won’t happen.
One wisecrack said,”The UN is like a guest at a party threatening to leave but never will.”
