KP Sharma Oli predicts Monday’s election for premier will be inconclusive
Kathmandu, 4 Sept.: Influential UML leader KP Sharma Oli Saturday predicted Sunday’s sixth round voting in parliament for prime minister will also be inconclusive.
He made the claim with reporters after returning from New Delhi where he held consultations with Indian leaders, including Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, point-man of the Indian government for Nepal, and BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani.
Maoist Chairman Prachanda and NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel are the two candidates.
Maoists can form a government with simple majority should a front of four Madesh parties support the UCPN (Maoist).
But NC needs the support of both the UML and the front to collect the required 301 votes to form a government with a simple majority.
Both UML and the front haven’t changed their positions to stay neutral in voting.
Caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal continues in office even more that two months after resigning.
