Prachanda says Maoists searching a new decision

Kathmandu, 1 Sept.: Chairman Prachanda said Wednesday as the ‘biggest’ party’ in parliament the Maoist central committee is meeting to take ‘ a new decision’ to break the deadlock to elect a prime minister before the 5 September sixth round voting for the successor of Caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
He didn’t reveal the nature of the decision to a group of journalists.
‘The central committee ‘will take a decision by 5 September’, he said.
Prachanda and NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel are the candidates for Sunday’s vote.
Prachanda blamed NC and UML for the standoff.
‘The situation was created by parties for adopting majority vote,” he said.

Sood, Khanal discussions

Kathmandu, 1 Sept.: UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal Wednesday held hour-long discussions with Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood as they reviewed delay in electing a prime minister and the future of UNMIN.
Sood also discussed the controversy created by Indian intervention of behalf of an Indian private joint venture company for allegedly producing and marketing sub-standard juice.
This is not the first time the embassy has got into controversy.
The embassy was charged by a Maoist lawmaker for a senior diplomat made threatening phone calls to him not to vote for Chairman in Prachanda in parliamentary elections for prime minister.
