5th MEETING OF SUB-COMMITTEE TO ASSIST PRACHANDA-LED TASK FORCE ALSO INCONCLUSIVE

Kathmandu, 27 Oct.: The 5th. meeting of a sub-committee to assist a Prachanda-led task force to remove hurdles in drafting a delayed constitution was also inconclusive Wednesday.
The sub-committee Wednesday discussed issues of national interest protection.
The sub-committee will report to the task force which meets Thursday after Chairman Prachanda’s return from China.

DR BABURAM BHATTARAI SUGGESTS CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT TO PRESENT FULL BUDGET

Kathmandu, 27 Oct.: Maoist Vice-chairman and former finance minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai Wednesday suggested amending article 96 of the constitution to present a full budget.
The government, through the amendment can meet only recurrent expenses, he said
He told reporters in Pokhara only a new government can bring a full budget in parliament.
Bhattarai threatened nation-wide protests in governments brings a full budget as a financial crisis looms amid money scarcity.
Government has only Rs 8 billion in the current account while a lfull budget hasn’t been presented even three months after the beginning of the financial year.
The interim constitution has been amended eight times tomeet party interests while no progress has been made in drafting a constitution to formalize a declared republic.
Fife months ago on 28 May 2010, the elected two-year tenure of the constituent assembly (CA) was extended to draft a constitution.
No progress was recorded in five months.
Government is preparing to present a delayed full budget.

FOUR MORE DENGUE CASES IN BUTWAL

Kathmandu, 27 Oct.: Four more dengue cases were reported Wednesday around in and around Butwal bringing to 47 the number of positive cases in the area.
More of the sick have been referred to hospitals in the capital and Chitwan.
A public awareness campaign has been launched in the region.

US AMBASSADOR, SUSHIL KOIRALA DISCUSSIONS

Kathmandu, 27 Oct.: Newly-elected NC President Sushil Koirala Wednesday told US Ambassador Scott E. DeLisi Maoists can no longer be trusted/
“We can’t trust Maoists who have renegaded on past agreements,” he told the envoy who called on him for the first time Wednesday after election as party president.
Koirala said there’ll be no breakthrough until NC conditions are met for concluding the peace process and constitution drafting.
Envoys have intensified their meetings with Koirala as the political deadlock continues.
He said NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel won’t withdraw his candidacy for prime minister even after being defeated in 13 rounds of voting in parliament..
British and Indian ambassadors earlier met Koirala who recovered from pneumonia.
