FORMER KING GYANENDRA LAUNCHES HIMANI TRUST

Kathmandu, 8 Oct.: Former King Gyanendra Saturday launched the Himani Trust of his daughter-in-law and former Crown Princess Himani during a special programme at Soaltee Hotel.
The trust was recently registered at the Kathmandu district office with Himani as chairperson to promote social welfare activities.
She said the trust will promote health, education, development and other activities to promote people’s welfare especially targeting children and aged.
Former Queen Komal is the trust’s patron.
Former royal family members—relatives of then King Gyanendra and brother Dhirendra, are members of the trust.Prerana Shah is the vice chairperson, Sitasma, Dhiendra’s daughter, is treasurer and the executive members of are: Pooja Rajya Laxmi Shah, Dilasha Shah and Archana Sharma.
Pawana Shah is secretary.
The trust was launched as former Crown Prince Paras said he returned home from Singapore to work for the revival of monarchy.
Gyanendra, Paras and Himani have intensified their public contacts recently.
‘Call me Gyanendra Shah. I don’t know why they call me king. Ask the organizers why they call me king,” the former king told reporters after the launch by lighting a traditional lamp.

Kathmandu, 8 Oct. Kishore Bikram Malla from the panel newly-elected chairman of the UML student wing Madhav Dhungel was elected general secretary.
The declaration was made in the capital where vote counting ended Saturday.
The panel supported by KP Sharma Oli, who opposes Maoists, swept the elections defeating a group led by the party establishment led by Chairman Jhalanath Khanal.
Khanal has sided with Maoists asking NC to withdraw candidacy for an extended vote for prime minister to elected the successor of Caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
The 12th round parliamentary voting will be held Sunday and it will again be inconclusive.
Communications Minister Shanker Pokhrel Saturday said in the capital Sunday’s vote will also be inconclusive and suggested parties should ask Prime Minister Nepal to withdraw his resignation submitted more than 100 days ago on Maoist pressure for a resolution to the deadlock and government formation.
‘The problem is not the candidacy of NC but differences between political parties,” he said.
Oli and Nepal are pressing UML to change a party stance to stay neutral in the vote and support the candidacy of NC Vice-chairman Ram Chandra Paudel.
NC Spokesman Arjun Narsingh KC said Saturday his party won’t withdraw candidacy until there’s a package agreement to end the delayed peace process and agree to a draft of a proposed constitution to institutionalize a republic.
Sudhir Shah, Nabin Lama, Nabaraj Paudel, Bhim Rai and Laxman Lamsal were elected vice-chairmen for a two-year term.
Rachana Khadka, Saroj Yadav and Bachan Singh were elected secretary while Dipak Gautam was elected treasurer.

SIX STUDENTS GO MISSING IN DANG

Kathmandu, 8 Oct.: Six students aged between six to 14 years have gone missing at Khole gaon in Dang since the last two days as they were proceeding to school, Radio Nepal said.
A massive police hunt has been launched.
Students went missing amid rising abductions and murders for ransom.
A FM radio operator was killed in themed-West district this year.

NEPAL BEATS QATAR

Kathmandu, 8 Oct.: Defending champion Nepal beat Qatar in Singapore Friday by 49 runs to top the group and qualify for the semi-finals of the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship.
Nepal batted first and scored 121 runs for the loss of six wickets in 25 overs.
Qatar was bowled out for 72 runs.
Nepal topped Group A with eight points
Nepal will meet the winner of the other group—UAE or Malaysia—Monday.
