PRESIDENT MEETS WAPC MEMBERS

Kathmandu, 24 Oct.: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav Sunday held discussions with executive members of the World Association of Press Council (WAPC).
The delegation arrived Saturday to attend its conference in Pokhara Monday.

VICE-PRESIDENT JHA RETURNS FROM CHINA

Kathmandu, 24 Oct. : Vice- President Parmananda Jha returned from Chengdu Sunday after a four-day China visit.
He attended a trade fair in the central Chinese town.
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav flies for China Tuesday to attend the closing ceremony of the Shanghai Expo.
Maoist Chairman Prachanda leaves for Beijing from Shanghai for meetings with Chinese government and party officials later Sunday.

SOOD, SURYA BAHADUR THAPA TALKS

Kathmandu, 24 Oct. Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood Sunday held political discussions with Chairman of Rashtriya Janashakti Party Surya Bahadur Thapa.
The meeting was held as India increases pressure on the government demanding action against Maoists for a shoe attack on him at Solukhumbu this month.
New Delhi has protected the assault saying it violated the Vienna Convention protecting ambassadors while conducting their duties.
Maoists charge Sood for engaging in anti-China activities along the sensitive Nepal-Tibet border.
Indian foreign ministry summoned Nepali Ambassador Rukma Shumshere Rana to protest the humiliating shoe assault—an indication New Delhi will increase pressure on government to take action against Maoists.
The delay is taking action is an indication of government’s sensitive position while handling Maoists under foreign pressure.
