TWO DENGUE CASES REPORTED IN NAWALPARASI

Kathmandu, 29 Oct.: Two dengue cases were detected in Nawalparasi adjoining Rupendhaehi.
The disease transmitted by mosquitoes has assumed epidemic proportions in Rupendhaehi and Chitwan.
A parliamentary committee summoned health officials for a briefing Friday.
The committee asked government to launch special campaign to halt a spread of the disease.

MOHOTTARI CLOSED DOWN FRIDAY

Kathmandu, 29 Oct. Government offices in Mohottari were closed down for the second consecutive day to protest the murder of a government education official from the district in Janakpur Thursday.
Lal Kishore Jha died of gunshot wounds while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital Friday.
District officials have threatened to close down office indefinitely if security isn’t enhanced.
Meanwhile, traders of Birgunj handed over a memorandum to Home Minister Bhim Rawal Friday demanding security after another shooting incident in the town overnight when trader Gopi Kayal was shot and injured.

CHANDRA KUMAR CHAUDARY ELECTED THARU LEADER

Kathmandu, 29 Oct. Chandra Kumar Chaudhary of Sunsari was Friday elected chairman of Tharu Welfare Council in Dang Friday.
The council met after 61 years to push interests.
Tharus oppose a One Madesh One Pradesh demand of Madeshis.

BHAI TIKA SUNDAY

Kathmandu, 29 Oct.: Nepal Panchayan Nirnayak Samiti said bhai tika should be observed Sunday.
The Samiti said this Friday amidst protests to government from the Newar community.
