BUS FALLS 200 METERS OFF HIGHWAY IN TANAHU

Kathmandu, 26 Nov. : A passenger bus fell 200 meters off a highway at Tashi Kuwa in Tanahu Friday night.
A police search and rescue team has been sent to the accident site.

LOAD-SHEDDING INCREASED TO 38.5 HOURS FROM SUNDAY

Kathmandu, 26 Nov.: Load-shedding will be increased to 38.5 hours every week from 29 hours a week from Sunday from, Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) announced Friday.
NEA said a second generator of the 70MW mid-Marsyangdhi hydro power project in Lamjung has been turned off for repairs.
As winter progresses, authorities warned daily load-shedding may be increased to 16 hours.

PM, UN OFFICIAL MEET

Kathmandu, 26 Nov.: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Friday held discussions with a UN security delegation led by Claude Heller, Chairman of UN security council working group for children and armed conflict.
The group returned home Friday after generally overseeing conditions of disqualified and child Maoist former combatants amid reports they were kept Maoists in another camp after release from UNMIN administered camps earlier this year.
The delegation after me ministers, army chief, UN officials, Maoists leaders and other leaders of society during a six-day visit.
“As the Chairman of the Security Council Working Group on children and armed conflict, I would like to relay the Council's firm support for the peace process in Nepal and highlight that all parties in Nepal told the Working Group that the Action Plan and release of verified minors from the cantonments signaled a key event in this country's moves towards a consolidated peace," a statement of the delegation said.

PRACHANDA PRESENTS INTEGRATED REPORT TO PLENUM

Kathmandu, 26 Nov.: Following a meeting of the party standing committee, Maoist Chairman Prachanda Friday afternoon presented an integrated political report to the 6th plenum for adoption.
The political report integrates suggestions of Vice-chairmen Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Mohan Baidya who earlier pushed presentation for proposals in the plenum as well.
Bhattarai and Baidya will comment on the Prachanda report before the plenum ends Saturday by adopting the chairman’s proposal.
The move indicates Prachanda is the effective leader of the main opposition communist party.
The standing committee decided to go for phase-wise struggle against foreign intervention while deciding to go for a revolt if the peace process and constitution drafting is derailed.

JOURNALIST ATTACKED IN SIRAHA

Kathmandu, 26 Nov.: Journalist Rabindra Chaudhary was attacked on his motorcycle in Siraha Friday night by an unknown group.
He’s undergoing treatment at Triyog Hospital in the district.
Siraha is one of the most lawless districts in the terai.

Kathmandu, 25 Nov.: Judicial council Friday sought perks from
government for retired chief justices.
A council meeting demanded facilities from government, including a personal assistant.

SIX JUDGES PROMOTED

Kathmandu, 26 Nov.: The judicial council Friday recommended the promotion of six judges to the post of chief judges of appellate courts.

The council recommended the promotions of Bishwonath Joshi, Gopal Parajuli, Dipak Raj Joshi, Durga Uprety, Govinda Kumar Nepal and Keshav Mainali.
Bishwonath has been appointed as the chief judge of Tulsipur Appellate court while Parajuli, Dipakraj, Uprety, Nepal and Mainali have been appointed as the chief judges of Biratnagar, Dipayal, Mahendranagar, Butwal and Nepalgunj appellate courts respectively.

ANTIi-SUPREME COURT PROTESTS

Kathmandu, 26 Nov.: Activists of MJFL seized documents and materials for preparing a voter’s list with the help of documents other materials other than citizenship certificates in Kalaiya, Bara, Friday.
The supreme court Thursday issued a stay order to the election commission ordering it to stop preparing a voters’

ID list without presentation of citizenship certificates.
Madesh parties have protested the ape court decision.
Limbuwan activists opposed the verdict in east Nepal Friday as well.
Election commission critics say the commission decision will open flood gates for foreigners to register as citizens.
The commission said five million non-citizens were already enlisted in the 2008 voters’ lust for constituent assembly vote.
