NC ALSO ISSUES WHIP TO LAWMAKERS

Kathmandu, 19 Nov.: NC has also issued a whip to its lawmakers to be compulsorily present when government presents an annual budget for the remaining eight months of the current fiscal year 2010/11.
UML issued a similar whip Thursday.
Budget is being presented at three in the afternoon.
Parliament’s business advisory meets shortly after noon to remove differences on budget presentation and election for prime minister.

PROTESTS AGAINST NEPAL PEACEKEEPRS AND UN REACH HAITI CAPITAL

Kathmandu, 19 Nov.: Protests against Nepali peacekeepers reacted the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince Thursday as a cholera outbreak killed more than 1,000 persons in the Caribbean republic.
Haitians blamed Nepali peacekeepers for the disease outbreak—a claim denied by UN amid staunch support for Nepali troops.
Demands have been pushed for withdrawal of the Nepali
peacekeepers and UN from the island as it prepares for elections.
Staggered protests have been violent leading to at least two deaths.

60% NEPALI GIRLS HAVE NO ACCESS TO SECONDARY EDUCATION

Kathmandu, 19 Nov.: Nepal stands fifth among South Asian countries on gender equality in education, RSS reports.
Sixty percent of girls in Nepal do not have access to secondary education, said a report released here on Thursday on ‘Gender Equality and Education: A Report Card on South Asia Living and Learning for Future—The Power of Adult Learning’ organized by Didibahini and Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult Education.
The report is being launched in all the South Asian countries within this month.
The report further says that Sri Lanka tops among the South Asian countries and India ranks second.
