Kathmandu, 19 Nov.: The Nepali mission at the UN headquarters in New York through a statement Thursday refuted what it called ‘baseless and unfounded allegations’ Nepali peacekeepers with UN in Haiti were responsible for more than 1,100 deaths in a cholera outbreak.
The Caribbean island also struck one year ago by a devastating earthquake.
The mission said Nepali army and police peacekeepers are currently deployed in 13 countries, including Haiti.
Cholera cases haven’t been detected in 12 other countries, the mission said.
Nepali peacekeepers have been deployed with UN since 1958 and strict medical tests are conducted taken before deployment, the statement said.
The mission expressed sorrow at the outbreak of the disease in the island.
The UN in New York again defected the Nepali peacekeepers.
The Nepali mission said investigations by Haiti government and UN had cleared Nepali peacekeepers.

meters below the earth by bringing them out alive in nearly three
