PM CONVENES MEET OF 27 PARTIES

Kathmandu, 17 Nov.: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has convened a meeting of 27 political parties in parliament Wednesday to discuss a budget for the remaining eight of for the fiscal year 2010/11.
The delayed budget inbeing presented in parliament Friday.
A task force of the Big Three parties Tuesday agreed to amend the interim constitution to permit a caretaker government to present a full budget citing special circumstances.

EIGHT POLITICAL PARTIES DEMAND NEMWANG INTERVENTION

Kathmandu, 17 Nov.: Eight political parties, including the UCPN (Maoist) and UML, registered a notice at the office of constituent assembly (CA) Chairman Subash Nemwang Tuesday demanding he begin a process to amend rules to amend parliament regulation to end the prolonged process of election of prime minister.
Besides Maoists and UML, Madeshi Janaadhikar Forum, CPN (ML) Socialist, Nepal Rashtriya Party, NSP (Satrita Giri), Nepal Janata Dal and Janamutkti Party registered the joint proposal Tuesday.
The initiative comes after a division bench of the supreme court last Wednesday asker the speaker to intervene to find an alternative to end for process that has been continuing for more than four months.
Parties have different perceptions on the apex court intervention.
NC has asked Speaker Subash Nemwang to declare Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel, the only candidate in the race for prime minister, declared unopposed.
Maoist Chairman Prachanda withdrew from the contest after the forth round vote.

THREE JUDGES, INCLUDING WOMAN PROMOTED
PERMANENT JUDGES

Kathmandu, 17 Nov.: Special parliamentary hearing committee
Tuesday approved the recommendation of the judicial council to
appoint three judges, including a woman, permanent judges of the
supreme court.
The committee approved the appointments of Abhadesh KumarYadav, Girish Chandra Lal and Sushila Karki.
Appointment of a woman as judge of the apex court is rare; but Karki sin;t the first judge to be appointed at the supreme court.

SAUDI PRINCE LEAVES

Kathmandu, 17 Nov.: Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal and his wife, Princess Amira flew back home Tuesday night at the end of a four-day visit.
The 19th richest man in the world is also a nephew of King Abdullah.
Foreign Secretary Dr Madan Kumar Bhattarai bid farewell to the couple at the airport.
Who arrived with a 37-member delegation.
The couple also visited Bhutan.
The Saudi prince was keen to invest in Nepal.
He held discussions with government leaders and was keen to return for a second visit.

KILLED PARAGLIDER IDENTIFIED AS MALAYSIAN

Kathmandu, 17 Nov.: Malaysian paraglider Keppeng Kwan, 71, died Tuesday in the resort town of Pokhara in an accident.
Permission is required for paragliding.
He didn’t have he required permission of the Nepal Airport Association and Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.
The tourist plummeted to the ground from 1,4000 meters.
A Swiss national was injured Sunday in the resort town.
