27 PARTIES DIFFER

Kathmandu, 16 Dec.: A meeting of 27 parties in the constituent assembly to extend the tenure of the Prachanda-led task force to narrow differences on 230 contentious issues for inclusion in a constitution was inconclusive Thursday.
Maoists age now against the extension of the term of the seven-member high-powered body even though it is headed by Chairman Prachanda.
Maoists said differences should now be sent back to the constitutional committee for resolution as the constitutional body.
NC favoured extending the task force tenure.
Chairman of the constitutional committee Nilambar Acharya said
earlier the task force hasn’t sorted fundamental issues like the
state structure and dealt only of peripheral; issues.
He doubted a constitution will be promulgated by 27May2011.
