PRACHNDA-LED TASK FORCE MEETS FOR LAST TIME

Kathmandu, 10 Dec.: Chairman Prachanda-led high-level task force to settle differences of 230 contentious issues on a proposed constitution to institutionalize a republic meets for the last time Friday before submitting a report to Chairman Subash Nemwang Saturday.
The task force Thursday didn’t agree on replacing a unique double triangular flag with the sun and moon—a Hindu symbol.
NC and UML opposed replacing the unique flag opposed by Maoists as a symbol feudalism and the past.
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal who returns after a fortnight’s visit of Cambodia ad Europe Friday said in Qatar the tenure of the constituent assembly that ends in less than six month’s won’t be ext4ended again.

DEUBA CONVENES MEET OF DISTRICT PRESIDENTS

Kathmandu, 10 Dec.: NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba is convening a meeting Friday of nearly two dozen district presidents who support him in the party against President Sushil Koirala.
Deuba Thursday called off a meeting of lawmakers and central leaders supporting him at the instance of the newly elected president.
Deuba opposes Koirala’s plan to appoint Ram Chandra Paudel and Krishna Prasad Shitaula vice-chairman and general secretary.
