LANDGREN ANALYSIS TRIGGERS EARTHQUAKE
Kathmandu, 7 Jan.: A major earthquake was triggered Friday by Wednesday’s ‘analysis’ of UNMN Chief Karin Landgrin presented to UN security council Wednesday Nepal was heading towards presidential or military rule or even a resurrection of a 10-yar people’s war
Ceremonial President Dr. Rm Baran Yadav held separate discussions Friday on the analysis and other issues, including the winter session of parliament, with Maoist Chairman Prachanda and Speaker Subash Nemwang.
Following the meeting with the President, Prachanda said there was no possibility of presidential rule.
During the meeting, they concluded that the report by UNMIN Chief Karin Landgren to the UN Security Council was not based on facts but prepared on the basis of rumours going around in the market. RSS reports.
Talking to media persons following the meeting, Chairman Prachanda said he shared with the president his party's commitment to completing the peace process and the constitution drafting process.
He also said that he and the President was confident that there was no possibility of a presidential rule, military coup and people's revolt in Nepal, as presented by UNMIN.
It is not the policy of the party to abandon the peace process and the constitution, and resort to a people's revolt, he added.
Stating that he shared with the president his party's view that UNMIN's term should be extended, Prachanda said, "I have requested the President to call a meeting of the senior leaders of the three major parties before the termination of the term of UNMIN".
