DONORS ILLEGALLY CONVERTING HINDUS AND PUSHING SECURITY; ARMY UNHAPPY
DONORS BREACH LAW TO PUSH CONVRSION IN LARGELY HINDU NEPAL
Kathmandu, 2 March: More than dozen international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) are operating to influence Nepal’s security policy and other sensitive areas like ‘religion and faith’ without obtaining the legally required permission from government, officials sources said according The Reporter.
The INGOs, through their local NGO partners with substantial clout in the UML and UCPN (Maoist) and Nepali Congress, are active in Security Sector Reform, (SSR), promotion of certain faiths involving conversion as well, an official of the Social Welfare Council told The Reporter.
‘Donors approaching individual officials in the state security apparatus, parliament secretariat and committee directly, influencing and tutoring them on formulation of the new security policy and SSR is something that happens only in a failed state .They are taking that liberty in Nepal and it will have its impact in the neighbourhood as well,,” senior army official said, adding ’ the army headquarters has been trying hard to regulate such in-transparent fund and illegal activities on the part of donors and hopes that the new government will take up the issue with them directly.”
The UCPN (Maoist) as a party and the UML, through NGOs linked with it, has been receiving money from donors mainly British, Swiss and some Scandinavian countries,
A highly placed official told The Reporter that even the UN country resident representative’s office has been informed about such activities on the part of donors, and ‘understanding is he is seized on the matter, We hope donors will review it and honour the law of the land.”

“Wonder how envoys from France and Finland don’t care a fig about ether attempting to fill potholes on front of their embassies on the road even as they spend millions financing projects for ‘democracy” My backbone almost breaks driving over those potholes. Beware of braces your excellencies from Finland and France. Do something for development and your personal well-being health and invest some money in road maintenance instead of DEMOCRACY only.”
