PM BRIEFS PRESIDENT ON INDIAN FOREIGN MINISTER VISIT (UPDATE)
Kathmandu, 19 April: Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal Tuesday briefed President Dr, Ram Baran Yadav on the visit of Indian Foreign Minister SM Krishna beginning Wednesday.
He’ll the senior most Indian official to visit Nepal after the installation of Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal 3 February.
Khanal heads a majority communist government that is encountering difficulties in settling down at Singha Durbar.

BIG THREE ATTEMPT TO PACIFY SMALL PARTIES
Kathmandu, 19 April: The Big Three agreed Tuesday start an initiate through talks with lawmakers to meet demands of small parties that are putting obstacles at the main constitution drafting committee discussing a proposed constitution.
Representatives of Dalits, Muslims, minorities and independents have stalled proceedings charging Maoists, NC and UML have sidelined their demands for incorporation in a proposed constitution.
No discussions have been held in the committee for several weeks with the disruption of proceedings.
Only 39 days remain to proclaim a basis law.

WOMEN CELL IN FOREIGN EMPLOYMENT DIVISION
Kathmandu, 19April: A women’s cell will be opened in the foreign employment division in the labor and transport ministry.
The cell will hear complaints of women workers returning home to help others going abroad for work.

TU AGREEMENT WITH FRENCH UNIVERSITY
Kathmandu, 19 April: Tribhuvan University (TU) Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with University of Lille 1 of France to exchange students and knowledge resources.
Vice-chancellor Madhav Prasad Sharma of TU and President of Lille 1 University Philippe Rollet signed the MoU for the exchange of academic and administrative staff and students, promote joint research and facilitate exchange and sharing of knowledge though library materials and other means.

192 WOMEN UNDER EMBASSY PROTECITION IN KUWAIT
Kathmandu, 19 April: Nearly 200 Nepali women domestic illegal workers in Kuwait are being sheltered by the Nepali embassy there, Kantipur reports.
They are kept at a ‘shelter house’.
They women said they fled after they weren’t paid or were exploited at workplace.
The number is increasing daily; there are 197 women there now.
Three or four more arrive when 10are sent home.
