PAKISTAN EMBASSY OFFICIAL SURVIVES ASSASSINATION BID

Kathmandu, 14 April: A Pakistani national attached with the Pakistani embassy in the capital survived with injuries after being shot Thursday morning at Bashundhara where the embassy is located.
The embassy official has been identified as Muhammad Mahaboob Asim.
He’s undergoing treatment for stomach and hand injuries at the TU Teaching Hospital also nearby.
Assailants on a motorcycle fled.
The incident happened at around nine in the morning.
The shooting comes amid deteriorating security situation in the capital.
Energy Minister Lokendra Bista was injured in a khukri attack the same night he was appointed minister.
A trader was shot dead in Ganabahal while another official of a trading company was alsos shot and killed at Teku; an official was also injured in the incident.
An Indian assassin attempted to shoot dead a prisoner at the high security central jail in the capital as well.
Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal is personally handling the home ministry portfolio amid demands from his own UML party to appoint a home minister.
