PARLIAMENT SUMMONS UPDATE
Kathmandu, 25 April: Government will present a budget for financial year 2011/12 May 23.
President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav will present government’s plan and programmes before parliament 10 May.
Parliament has been summoned 2 May.
A complete budget is being presented one month before the end of the current fiscal year to present the plans of Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal’s communist majority government with Maoists.
Such a budget before the end of the fiscal year has been opposed by main opposition NC.
Maoists were pushing such a budget arguing the present budget of the previous government brought by ordinance didn’t reflect the present government’s policies.
Rameshwor Khanal resigned as finance secretary charging Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikary for preparing the budget without institutional discussions in the ministry.

SPECIAL COURT FINE
Kathmandu,25 April: A three-member bench of the special court
Monday ordered Thakur PratapThapa and Jiban Bista of Silver Fiber Mills to reimburse Karmarchari Sanchaya Kosh a Rs.190.2 million loan. .
Thapa and Advisor Kishore Banskota were also slapped a six-mnth jil sentence.
They were charged by CIAA for financial irregularities.

US AMBASSADOR HOLDS DISCUSSIONS WITH PM KHANAL
Kathmandu, 25 April: US Ambassador Scott H. DeLisi Monday assured American investments will continue in talks Monday with Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal.
He met Khanal after returning from Washington where Nepal and USA signed a trade and investment agreement replacing a trade agreement signed more than 60 years ago during the Rana regime.
They also discussed the delayed peace process and constitution drafting.

MAOIST CENTRALCOMMITTEE MEET CONTINUES TUESDAY UPDATE
Kathmandu, 25April: Maoist central committee meet to discuss separate party strategies of Chairman Prachanda and Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya for party adoption will continue Tuesday.
Thirty-nine central committee members expressed their views Monday.

KAMAL THAPA SPEAK
Kathmandu, 25 April: RPP-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa said Monday foreign interference increased because of the ’surrender’ policy of parties and leaders.
He said the recent of visit of Indian Foreign Minister SM Krishna wasn’t interference in Nepal’s internal affairs.
He asked present leaders to undergo self-criticism if the constituent assembly tenure was to be extended for six months after 28 May to complete a constitution.
