GOVT. ALLOWS TRUST WITHOUT KING BIRENDRA’S RELATIVES TO SPEND MONEY
Kathmandu, 13 April: Cabinet Wednesday authorized government appointed members of Nepal Trust managing seized or nationalized assets of King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya and their family members to spend income from their acquired properties.
No relatives of the former king and queen is in the Trust whose office is located in front of the Narayanhiti Royal Palace now converted into a museum.
Government seized their assets even as children of Princess Shruti, daughter of the king and queen, are living.
Prevailing Nepali law says property of dead should go to the nearest relative.
No case has been filed by relatives over the seizure of the assets so far.
The seizure of the property of the royals came as unaccounted wealth of poor politicians suddenly turned rich are held by possessors.

FOUR TOP OFFICIALS PROMOTED
Kathmandu, 13 April: Four joint secretaries were promoted to secretary rank Wednesday without assigning them responsibilities.
Hari Prasad Nepal, Shridhar Neupane and Somlal Subedi were among the officials promoted by the cabinet Wednesday.
