Kathmandu, 14 April: With very little to cheer about, New Year 2068 is being celebrated somberly.
People began the day visiting temples and exchanging best wishes for a happy and prosperous year.

BHUTANESE PREMIER ARRIVING

Kathmandu, 14 April: Bhutanese Prime Minister Lyonchhen Jigme Y.
Thinley arrived later Thursday for a three-day visit as he visits member states of the eight-nation SAARC
as chairman of the South Asian regional grouping.
Bilateral issues will be discussed during the visit, foreign ministry officials said.
Nepal will raise the Bhutanese refugee issue and seek the return home of refugees of Nepali ethnicity forcibly evicted from the Buddhist kingdom.
Over 42,000 of 108,000 refugees have been resettled in western
countries, mainly USA in the last two years as more displaced persons, including elderly, are being resettled in third countries.
Trade and other issues will also be discussed.
Thinley is the first government chief to visit Nepal after Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal was installed 3 february.

DIRECTIVE NOT TO SELL UNAUTHORIZED BOOKS

Kathmandu, 14 April: Department of Education (DoE) Wednesday directed district education offices nation-wide to oversee sale of text books and stop the
sale of books not approved by Curriculum Development Center (CDC)
The intervention came following reports of sale of Indian textbooks not approved by the Center.

THREE DEAD, 36 INJURED IN DEADLY BUS ACCIDENT IN DANDELDHURA

Kathmandu, 14 April: Three persons died and 36 were injured overnight in a bus accident at far-West Dandeldhura.
Five are in serious condition, district officials said.
Deadly vehicular accidents are daily occurrences.

NEPAL MOVES UP IN FIFA RANKING

Kathmandu, 14 April: Nepal moves up 22 places Wednesday in FIFA
world ranking to150th position after qualifying this week for the AFC Challenge Cup final from Group D
Nepal is four places behind India.
