UML CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEET PUT OFF

Kathmandu, 25 April: A three-day UML central committee meet that was to begin Thursday has been put off until further notice.
The meeting was put off because of inadequate preparation and a meeting of a Madesh affiliated body, the announcement said.

VP RECEPTION ON LOKTANTRA DAY UPDATE

Kathmandu, 25 April: Vice-president Parmananda Jha Sunday held a tea reception at his official residence to mark loktantra day.
Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, cabinet members, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, members of the diplomatic corps, political party leaders and society representatives attended.

MADHAV KUMAR NEPAL ASKS PEOPLE TO PROTEST

Kathmandu, 25 April: Former prime ministered UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal Sunday asked people to protest plans to ‘indefinitely’ feed 601 members of the constituent assembly if a constituent assembly doesn’t promulgate a constitution by 28 May.
He told a meeting in Thimi a basic law can be put togetherwith unityand understanding between parties.
Nepal called for protests as archrival Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal said the assembly won’t be dissolved until a constitution is promulgated.

TWO BROTHERS SWEPT AWAY BY SUN KOSI

Kathmandu, 25 April: Two teenage brothers were swept away by Sun Kosi river in Sindhupalchowk Sunday.
They were identified as Umesh and Shitan Shrestha of the district.

NEPAL POLICE CLUB DEFEATED

Kathmandu, 25 April: League champion Nepal Police Club was defeated Sunday by Taiwan Power Company in the AFC President’s Cup Group C qualifying match.
The Nepal team had already been eliminated from the qualifying round after losing two matches.
The Taiwan team and Balkan FC of Turkmenistan qualified for the next round from the group.
