11 PARTIES TO OBSTRUCT BUDGET SESSION BEGINNING MONDAY

Kathmandu, 1 May: Eleven parties, including main opposition NC, decided to obstruct the budget session of parliament beginning Monday.
After deciding formally Sunday to obstruct the budget session called by the government nearly one month ahead of normal traditional schedule, parties said they will fix protest forms at another meeting.
The main parties have charged the communist government of Maoists and UML for conspiring to call the budget session early sidelining peace and constitution drafting.
MJFN of Upendra Yadav has decided to join the communist government.
Earlier, government attempted and failed to bring a budget for the remaining three months of the current fiscal year 2010/11.
Finance Secretary Rameshwor Khanal resigned charging Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bhatar Mohan Adhikari, a relative, for discussing and preparing the budget without consulting the ministry institutionally by taking him into confidence.

POLICEMAN SHOT AND INJURED IN BIRTAMOD

Kathmandu, 1 May: Policeman Ambika Pokhrel was shot and injured by an unknown group in Birtamod, Jhapa, by an unknown group late Sunday.
He was rushed for emergency treatment across the border to Siligudi in West Bengal.
