BILL TO BEGIN EXTEND CA TENURE REGISTERED

GOVT BILL TO AMEND CONSTITUTON TO EXTEND CA TENURE REGISTERED IN PARLIAMENT UPDATE

Kathmandu, 28 May: Law Minister Prabhu Sah presented a bill in parliament for approval to extend a tenure of the constituent assembly whose tenure would have ended midnight Saturday.
The tenure is being extended by amending article 64 of an interim constitution.
Main opposition which had been opposing the bill’s presentation the entire week raised no on objections Saturday night
Speaker Subash Nemwang then adjourned the first session of parliament proceedings for 15 minutes.
The bill was presented after a protest notice of RPP-Nepal against the bill was voted down by majority voice vote.
The amendment bill was presented by Minister Sah 15 minutes before Saturday midnight when the assembly tenure would have ended.
The bill for assembly tenure extension will now be approved early Sunday morning with Maoist, NC and UML support after a formality was completed to register an amendment bill before midnight Saturday repeating a scenario exactly one year ago when the assembly tenure was extended at the 11th hour by parliament by one year.
