CAPITAL NORMAL.AFTER PARLIAMENTARY VOTE

Kathmandu, 29 May: Life returned normal in the capital Sunday morning after a vote in parliament to extend the tenure of the constituent assembly (CA) by three months through an amendment of an article in the interim constitution.
For days before e the vote, lift was disrupted in the capital and the rest of the country by crippling strikes for and against the assembly tenure extension.
Movement of vehicles on roads was normal and people thronged the market.
Newspapers hit the newsstands late Sunday morning as publishing houses went to the press late to cover vote in parliament.

THARUS CLOSE DOWN MID AND FAR-WEST

Kathmandu, 29 May: Tharus demanding delisting from a government enlistment of the community as Madeshi closed down districts in the mid and far-West where the community has a sizeable force.
Tharus consider themselves as an indigenous group and not Madeshis who they say have settled in the south crossing the open 1,700 km open Indo-Nepal border

NO MORE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMEN FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS

Kathmandu, 29 May: Nepal Rashtra Bank is disallowing the appointment of executive chairmen in financial institutions, Nagarik reports.
Under the present arrangement the same person can be executive chairman and CEO.
‘A policy will be prepared within Jesth [14 June],
Deputy Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari said.
The central bank took the initiative after growing trend of executive chairmen misusing authority.
