PM KHANAL, RAM CHANDRA PAUDEL TALKS
Kathmandu, 14 May: Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal is holding talks with main opposition NC Vice-president and parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Paudel Saturday to gather support for the decision of the communist majority government to extend the constituent assembly (CA) for another one year after 28 May.
The government decision has to be ratified by a two-third majority of the 598-mmmeber parliament; the government doesn’t command such a majority.
Khanal is holding discussions with smaller parties as well Saturday,
NC opposes government decision to extend the CA term for the second time and said it wasn’t consulted on the move.
The premier didn’t consult his own UML party as well.
Khanal and Maoist Chairman Prachanda Friday agreed to push dialogue with other parties to collect two-third parliamentary support for a proposal that has been registered in the legislature.

JAPANESE DEAD ON EVEREST
Kathmandu, 14 May: Japan’s Takashi Ozaki, 59, died Thursday below the summit of the 8848 meters high Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak, after falling sick, tourism ministry said.
He fell sick at 8,600 meters.
Former Foreign Minister Shailendra Kumar Upadhaya, 82, died while attempting to become the oldest person to scale the peak.
