VOTER REGISTRATION WORK DISRUPTED
BUDGET SESSION FROM MONDAY
Kathmandu, 2 May: Government for the first time is announcing an annual budget one month ahead of the traditional budgetsessionof parliament.
The communist government of Maoists/UML heahed by UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal has convened the session of parliament from Monday to present the annual budget 1011/12.
Eleven parties, including in the main opposition NC have threatened to obstruct the session.
Parties have already submitted separate memorandums to Prime Minister Khanal and Speaker Subash Nemwang not to present the budget ahead of normal time.

VOTER REGISTRATION HALTED IN BANKE
Kathmandu, 2 May: The voters’ list collection programme has been affected due to the protest programmes of Madesh-based political parties in Banke district Sunday, RSS reports from Nepalgunj.
The District Election Commission (DEC) called their representatives back from various villages after facing warnings from different Madesh based parties.
Police said the officials deployed for the voters list collection were called back fearing a possible clash.

GRADE 12 EXAMS FROM MONDAY
Kathmamdu, 2 May: Altogether 387,812 students are appearing for Grade 12 examinations from Monday—264, 310 from regular and 123,310 from exempted sections.
Grade 11 examinations begin 15 May.
Cheats can be imprisoned for six months and fined Rs 100,000.

ONE CANCER PATIENT DEAD IN BHARATPUR CANCER HOSPITAL
Kathmandu, 2 May: A male patient awaiting urgent treatment at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur died Sunday.
Forty-two seriously ill patients are still at the despite which has been closed down for four days.
The Chinese-built hospital was closed down amid differences between major parties on the appointment of a hospital chief executive to succeed Dr. Bhaktaman Shrestha who was abducted and released last year for after paying a ransom.

GOLD GAINS Rs. 1,000 IN ONE WEEK
Kathmandu, 2 May: Gold gained Rs. 1,000 per tola in trading in one week last week.
The yellow metal was traded for Rs. 43,010 per tola Sunday.
Silver was traded for Rs.1.350 Sunday.
Precious metal price has been on the rise along with an increase of its price in the international market.

FORMER AMBASSADOR TO SAUDI ARABIA DIVERTS ANOTHER COMPENSATION OF WORKER TO HIS ACCOUNT
Kathmandu, 2 May: Former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Hamid Ansari has diverted the compensation of another Nepali worker who died in Saudi Arabia to his account, Surendra Paudel reports in Nagarik.
Rs. two million in compensation equivalent to 100,000 Saudi riyals paid to Rej Bahadur Budamagar of Rolpa has been diverted to his account.
The ambassador was recalled several months ago when first such reports surfaced.
