SPEAKER RECEIVES DIGITAL VOTER REGISTRATION CARD
Kathmandu, 15 June: Speaker Subash Nemwang, who hails from Ilam, Wednesday received his digital voter registration card at the International Convention Center in Naya Baneshwor from the election commission in its new month-long drive to register Nepalis who are abroad or have settled in the capital from districts.
In the next two days, Prime Minister Jhalanath Knanal, ministers and lawmakers will receive their digital registration cards.
The commission says an estimated one million from outside the capital live in Kathmandu.
The commission has completed voter registration in 2,350 of 3912 VDCs in a campaign launched 10 weeks ago.
The commission for the first time is enlisting Nepalis living abroad as well.
A national drive has been launched to enlist persons living away from their districts.

STOP FACILITATING RESETTLEMENT OF BHUTANESE TO RESUME BILATERAL TALKS WITH BHUTAN SAYS REFUGEE ORGANIZATION
Kathmandu, 15 June: Human Rights Organization of Bhutan (HUROB) said in a statement Tuesday said government should first withhold stop facilitating resettlement of Bhutanese refugees in third countries, mainly western countries, to resume bilateral talks with Bhutan for return home of displaced persons.
The refugee organization said government has no legal ground to resume bilateral talks while facilitating settlement of refugees in third countries.
More than 30,000 of 100,000 plus refugees from camps in east Nepal have been resettled in the West, mainly USA.

SUNIL SHUMSHERE RANA APPOINTED NATIONAL TEAM MANAGER
Kathmandu, 15June; Sunil Shumshere Rana has been appointed national team manager by ANFA for Asian Zone 2014 World Cup Asian Qualifiers against Timor Leste in Kathmandu from 29June to 2 July.
Rana replaces Krishna Bahadur Manandhar.
British coach Graham Roberts will look after the national team.
Upendra Man Singh and Meghraj KC are assistant coaches.

PARSHURAM BASNET IN CAPITAL
Kathmandu, 15 June: Parshuram Basnet, the chief suspect in the murderous assault on journalist Khilnath Dhakal, was traced Tuesday at the house of trader Ramhari Shrestha at Koteshwor in the capital, Annapurna Post reports.
Shrestha was killed by Maoist fighters.
A select group of journalists met Basnet; the meeting was brokered by Mahesh Basnet, chief of the Youth Force affiliated with UML.
