FOUR MEMBERS OF WEDDING PARTY KILLED

FOUR DEAD, 27 INJURED IN JHAPA BUS ACCIDENT

Kathmandu, 9 June: Nine persons of a wedding were killed and 27 members of a wedding party were injured when a bus fell 30 meters off a road into an irrigation canal at Juropani in Jhapa overnight.
Thee were crushed on the spot and one died while undergoing treatment at a hospital,
Six of the injured are in serious condition.

PRACHANDA SUB-COMMITTEE MEETS

Kathmandu, 9 June: An empowered sub-committee led by Maoist Chairman Prachanda to sort out differences on 21 contentious subjects to be included in a proposed constitution met dir the first time after 12 days Thursday.
A main constitution drafting committee headed by Nilambar Acharya renewed its tenure after the tenure of the constituent assembly (CA) was extended for three more months 29 May.
The main committee had directed the sub-committee to sent a work report once every 10 days.
But criticisms have started surfacing saying concerned bodies have become lethargic after the CA term extension

BHOLA NATH AGRAWAL FORMS NEPAL JANATA PARTY (UNITED)

Kathmandu, 9 June: Bhola Nath Agrawal quit Janata Dal and formed Nepal Janata Party (United) Wednesday.
Janata Dal had two members in parliament.
Gayatri Sah, another member of the legislature, the lost membership of the legislature after she was charged by CIAA for misuse of her diplomatic passport.
Party Chairman Haricharan Sah, father of the woman legislator, has also gone underground after being charged in the passport scam.

FURTHE DETAILS OF PARTY RESPONSIBILITIES IN UML

Kathmandu, 9 June: Yubaraj Geywali, secretary of UML leading the communist majority government, has been appointed chief of the party’s finance department replacing Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari.
UML ministers in the government of Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, who is party chairman, were stripped of their responsibilities Wednesday by the standing committee.
Raghu Pant is chief of the party’s legal department while Agni Kharel has been designated election department chief and Netra Panti chief of local department.
Former defence minister and Vice-chairman Bidya Bhandari, widow of Madan Bhandari, has been appointed chief for supervising party activities in the eastern region.
Yogesh Bhattarai is head of the youth department, and Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal head of student department.

FORMER NRB GOVERNOR HARI SHANKER SHRESTHA DEAD

Kathmandu, 9 June: Former Nepal Rashtra Bank (NRB) Governor Hari Krishna Shrestha died Wednesday.
He was also a former member of national planning commission and worked in several private commercial banks.
Shrestha is survived by two daughters and a son.

NEPAL ASSISTANCE FOR NEW ZEALAND QUAKE

Kathmandu, 9 June: Association of Nepal New Zealand Alumni (ANNZA) Wednesday handed over a NZ $ 7,250 cheque for the reconstruction of Christchurch badly damaged in a quake February.

GULF OPENED FOR HOUSEMAIDS

Kathmandu, 9 June: Saudi Arabia, UAE and Kuwait have been opened for Nepali housemaids after standards were prepared by government, Hom Karki reports in Kantipur
The three countries were on a banned list for Nepali women workers.
Conditions have been set by government for Saudi Arabia and UAE; such conditions were set earlier for Kuwait.
Nepali embassies in those countries prepared the conditions approved by the concerned minister.
