NC LEADERS SEEK MADHAV KUMAR NEPAL SUPPORT FORNATIONAL GOVT.

75 HOME MINISTRY UNDER-SECRETARIES TRANSFERRED

Kathmandu, 19 June: Seventy-five home ministry under-secretaries, including 50 CDOs, were transferred Saturday—a public holiday
But their transfers were backdated to Friday.
The transfers come after the mass transfers of Nepal Police SPs after Maoists took charge of the home ministry from UML
The transfers were effected to leave a Maoist imprint on the important ministry.

NC LEADERS MEET MADHAV KUMAR NEPAL.

Kathmandu, 19 June: A main opposition NC team led by President Sushsil Koirala and Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel held a meeting Sunday morning with former Prime Minister Madhab Kumar Nepal who leads an anti- Jhalanath Khanal group in the ruling UML.
The team drove to Nepal’s residence and sought help for its drive to from a national government amid reluctance of Prime Minister Khanal to resign immediately.
Khanal says he’ll resign only after an environment is created for a national government after a five-point agreement.
Koirala held consultations with Nepal before departure for New York for an annual medical check-up in New York.

11 SLUICE GATES OPENED

Kathmandu, 19 June: Eleven sluice gate of the Kosi barrage were opened Sunday morning as the rise in the water level of Sapta Kosi began rising with heavy rainfall in the eastern region.
Monsoon broke over the eastern region last week.
Good pre-monsoon and its break last week has brought joy to farmers who have started transplanting paddy
Rice is the nation’s staple crop.
