PM, PRACHANDA DISCUSSFIVE-POINT IMPLEMENTATION

PM, PRACHANDA MEET

Kathmandu, 2 June: Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal and Maoist Chairman Prachanda held discussions Wednesday on the role of the two ruling parties to implement Sunday’s five-point agreement that facilitated the three-month extension of the constituent assembly.
The agreement also prioritized integration and resettlement of 19,000 plus Maoist combatants in three months.
The chairmen of the two ruling communist parties also discussed integration of former fighters and a schedule for it.
The issues will be taken up by a special committee headed by the government chief later Thursday.
A scheduled meeting Wednesday wasn’t held.

MONSOON LIKELY TO BREAK IN TWO WEEKS

Kathmandu, 2 June: Monsoon this year is likely to break over Nepal in mid-June, meteorologists said.
The country recorded 170 mm pre-monsoon rain in May—highest in three years.
The monsoon broke over Kerala 29 May.

LAST LANDMINE LAID BY NEPAL ARMY BEING CLEARED 14 JUNE

Kathmandu, 2 June: The last landmine laid by Nepal Army will be cleared 14 June, an official announcement said.
The mine is placed at Phulchoki the highest hill overlooking the Valley in the south.
The mine was laid around a telecommunication facility
“The clearance of the Phulchoki minefield in mid-June by Nepali Army will symbolize the fulfillment of the government’s commitment to clear all the minefields,” said a statement released by United Nations Mine Action Team
