UML PARLIAMENTARY PARTY MEET BEGINS

Kathmandu, 21 June: The parliamentary party of the UML, the party leading the communist majority government got underway Tuesday morning.
The lawmakers are discussing the annual budget government hopes to present in parliament 13 June.
Government is presenting a document on the budget in parliament Wednesday
Untimely presentation of the annual budget for two successive years has adversely affected the national economy.
The parliamentary party is meeting amid uncertainty whether the budget will be presented on time this year as well.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari hasn’t yet secured the support of main opposition NC and its supporters for budget presentation as NC demands formation of a national government.

JOURNALISTS CONTINUE PROTESTS DEMANDING PROBE OF UML YOUTH LEADER

Kathmandu, 21 June: Journalists began a 10-hour sit-in in front of Morang district office Tuesday from eight in the morning demanding initiation of action against Parshuram Basnet UML district Youth Wing President for a murderous assault on a reporter in Biratnagar.
Reporter is still hospitalized recovering from injuries
Journalists accused the Morang CDO, district police and government lawyers for not initiating action against the assault amid charges Basnet is being protected by the party and its leaders.
Central Youth leader Mahesh Basnet says he knows the whereabouts of the district leader An umbrella organization of journalists has announced a second round of programmes demanding initiation of a probe against Basnet for the assault.
They charged a probe has been delayed.

PANAUTI TO HOST 9TH ASIA INTER-CITIES TEENAGER MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD 2011

Kathmandu, 21 June: The 9th Asia Inter-cities Teenagers Mathematics Olympiad 2011 will held in Panauti, Kavre from 14-17, November, 2011, Nepal Tourism Board said. Prof. Wen-Hsein,of International Mathematics Committee is arriving for consultations for preparations for the Olympiad.

VIRAL FEVER SICKENS 31 SOLDIERS OF A COMPANY

Kathmandu, 21 June: Viral fever sickened 31 soldiers of Shatrumardan Company at Pankot in Bhajang, including
a captain, have fallen sick after drinking contaminated water, Naya Patrika reports from Bhajang quoting the company.
Six, including the captain, have been evacuated to the capital by helicopter for emergency treatment.

He consumed poison and committed suicide.

THREE ARRESTED IN PARSA ATTEMPTING TO SMUGGLE 20 KG HASH ACROSS TO INDIA

Kathmandu, 21 June: Three persons were arrested from Bishrampur near Parwanipur in Parsa Tuesday attempting to smuggle drugs across the border to India.
The trio were attempting to smuggle 20 kg hash across the open border.
