FORMER IGP RAMESH CHAND THAKURI SENTENCED, SENT TO JAIL
Kathmandu, 19 July: Former IGP Ramesh Chand Thakuri was sent to jail Tuesday after he failed to furnish a Rs 7 million bail in a Rs 280 million Darfur, Sudan scam.
A bench of a special court sent him to hail on charge leveled by CIAA for the scam in purchase of armoured personnel carriers and logistics for Nepal Police peacekeepers with UN in the African state.
After former IGP Hem Bahadur Gurung, Thaakiri is the second IGP to be sentenced mong three police chiefs,
Thirty-four police officers have been charged.

NARAYAN KAZI SHRESTHA TO LEAD A MAOIST HEADED GOVT.
Kathmandu, 19 July:: A gathering of Unified CPN (Maoist) leaders decided to send a new team of the Maoist party in the government under the leadership of party Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha, RSS reports.

The gathering attended by all three Vice Chairmen and some office bearers held at the residence of party General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ at Bouddha on Tuesday reached the decision. The meeting agreed to hand over the Home Ministry portfolio to Shrestha.

Earlier on Monday evening, a similar gathering was held at the residence of Shrestha where all the three Vice Chairmen were present. Tuesday’s gathering was also scheduled to be held at Shrestha’s home in Jhamsikhel, but it took place at Badal’s home suddenly.

2 KILLED, 15 INJURED IN GULMI JEEP ACCIDENT
Kathmandu, 19 July: Two persons were killed and 15 others were injured Tuesday have been injured when a jeep fell 50 meters off a road in Gulmi.
Six injured are in serious condition.
