LANDSLIDES KILL 13 IN RUKUM; OTHER DETAILS
Kathmandu, 15 July: At least 13 persons, including children of a family, were buried alive and killed overnight at two places in Rukum following heavy rain overnight.
Further details of the disaster are awaited from remote points in the far-West hill district.
Houses have been destroyed and threatened, first reports said.
Three persons were swept away by a flooded river in neighbouring Nuwakot.
The season’s biggest flow of 161,845 cusecs was recorded on Sanpta Koshi river Friday morning following heavy rainfall in the river’s catchments area in the hills overnight.
Twenty-two of 53 sluice gates of the Koshi Barrage were opened after a red alert.

MADESH FRONT TALKS BEGIN WITH PM, FINANCE MINISTER UPDATE
Kathmandu, 15 July: A front of five Madeshbadi parties began joint talks with Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari Friday morning.
The talks aim to remove hurdles for presentation of the delayed at one in the afternoon.
Amid threats by the front to obstruct proceedings Thursday, budget presentation was delayed one day.
Madeshbadi parties are demanding recognition as national parties like Maoists, UML and NC.
