Rs.110 MILLION BAIL DEMANDED FROM SHAMBHU BHARATI

Kathmandu, 29 July: Special court Friday demanded a Rs. 110 bail from Shambhu Bharati , the agent of a London-based firm that supplied faulty armoured personnel carriers (APCs) to Nepal Police for its peacekeepers with the UN mission in Sudan.
CIAA charged Bharati for misconduct in supplying the APCs.
He implicated Bangladesh son-in-law Rubel Chaudhary of Sujata Koirala, only daughter of Girija Prasad Koirala.
He is one of two contractors charged by CIAA in a scam estimated at Rs. 280 million.
A Rs 150 million was demanded from Retired IGP Om Bihram Rana.
The deal was signed during his tenure.
Thirty-four senior police officers have been charged.
