EDUCATION MINISTER GANGA LAL TULADHAR DEFENDS VICE-CHANCELLOR APPOINTMENTS

Kathmandu, 9 Aug. Education Minister Ganga Lal Tuladhar said Tuesday appointments of seven vice-chancellors by government Monday night after long and protracted discussions was ‘fair, just and legal’.
Tuladhar said the appointments won’t be withdrawn.
“I will resign as minister but won’t change the decision,” Tuladhar said firmly.
Tuladhar headed a committee that recommended the names to government which made the appointments Monday.
Teachers affiliated with NC and Maoists Tuesday padlocked
universities unilaterally.

NEPAL SETS A TOUGH TARGET FOR USA IN WORLD CUP CRICKET QUALIFIER

Kathmandu, 9 Aug. : Nepal won the toss, batted first and scored 265 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs in the ICC U-19 Worold Cup Qualifiers in Dublion, Ireland Tuesday against USA
USA needs a win to confirm a place in the 2012 final in Australia and New Zealand.
Nepal has already qualified with five wins and two losses.
Nepal was playing its last match of the tournament.
