FATHER MURDERS TWO DAUGHTERS IN PARBAT

Kathmandu, 12 Aug.: Krishna Tiwari murdered his two daughters in on Parbat two weeks ago by throwing two daughters into a nearby river at their village in the west Nepal district, police said after a probe.
They were not abducted and killed for a Rs. 100,000 ransom as claimed by Tiwari , police said.
Police have launched a search for the bodies.

PARLIAMENT ADJOURNED UNTIL SUNDAY

Kathmandu, 2 Aug.: Parliament was adjourned until Sunday without conducting scheduled business of discussing allocations for ministries in the budget.
Only 137 lawmakers were present—not enough to meet a quorum.

NEPAL POLICE FORMS PROBE TEAM TO INVESTIGATE MURDER OF ROSI MAHARJAN

Kathmandu, 12 Aug : A four-member committed headed by SP Shyam Bahadur Khatri was formed Friday by Nepal Police to probe the murder of Kopandole resident Rosi Maharjan, 21.
Other members are: DSP Hridaya Thapa, DSP Umesh Kumar Basnet and Inspector Firoj Basnet
Rosi’s boyfriend, who has been arrested, is the prime suspect.
The probe team has been given responsibility to arrest suspects Kumar Tamang and Raju Lohar,who are absconding

ANURADHA KOIRALA AWARDED WITH KOREA’S MANHAE PRIZE

Kathmandu, 12 Aug : Anuradha Koirala was awarded the Manhae Prize in Seoul Friday for her work in attempting to curb trafficking in women.
The founder of Maiti Nepal was rewarded for her ‘exemplary contribution against violence’.

The prize carries a purse of KRW 50 million equivalent to Rs. 3.35 million and a gold medal.

BRITISH MP EMMA REYNOLDS COMING TO WORK AS VOLUNTEER

Kathmandu, 12 Aug.: British Member of Parliament for Wolverhampton North East, Emma Reynolds, will arrive in Nepal on 14 August to work on behalf of the National Campaign for Education Nepal (NCEN) as volunteer for international development agency, VSO, British embassy said.
She will be one of 15 MPs and Peers who are taking part in VSO’s Parliamentary Volunteering Scheme this year; with her placement focused on working with local teachers to address gender inequality in the education system.

Ms Reynolds will be joining VSO partner, NCEN, a local organisation which campaigns for quality and inclusive education regardless of sex or background. Its membership is made up of teaching organisations, field workers, journalists and NGOs with its focus on sharing effective methods and holding the government to account.
