Kathmandu, 26 Aug.: Maoist Second Vice-Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and NC Vice-President Ram Chandra Paudel filed nominations Friday for Sunday’s election for prime minister by majority in parliament.
They were the only two candidates to file nominations Friday.
The successful candidate will succeed Caretaker Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal who resigned seven months after assuming office in February with Maoist support to form a majority communist government.
Khanal said he brought Maoists to government as they were being isolated by other parties in national politics.
Paudel said he was favoured a democratic
constitution, end to culture of impunity, lasting peace and constitution drafting.
Bhattarai said the UCPN (Maoist) agenda was to complete the peace process and promulgate a constitution

The terai parties say the combination isn’t acceptable as a national dress.
A 2-1 split decision of apex court said the combination was a national dress.
