NEPAL DEFEATS NAMIBIA IN WORLD CUP CRICKET QUALIFIER

Kathmandu, 5 Aug.: Nepal beat Namibia by 11 runs in the World Cup ICC- U-19 qualifying match in Dublin, Ireland Friday.
Australia and New Zealand are hosting the tournament.
Nepal has won three matches while losing two against Scotland and Canada.
Nepal defeated Afghanistan, Kenya and Vanuatu
Batting first, Nepal scored 217 runs in nine wickets against Namibia.
Nepal will now play Ireland and Papua New Guinea Sunday, Monday and USA 9 August.

NC PRESIDENT SUSHIL KOIRALA EMPOWERED
Kathmandu, 5 Aug.: Main opposition NC President Sushil Koirala Friday was empowered by its central working committee (CWC) to nominate central party boards, committees and departments.
“There was agreement in principle and appointments will have to be endorsed by the central committee,” General Secretary Prakash Man Singh said
Party regulations, were amended
President will make kep appointments to 32 bodies including parliamentary board, disciplinary committee and steering committee.
A five-member committee headed by CWC member Arjun Narsingh KC prepared the regulations
The committee will meet again Sunday.

UN TOP OFFICIAL SAMUEL TAMRET VISITING NEPAL

Kathmandu, 5 Aug.: Samuel Tamret, Director of Asia and Pacific Division of Department of UN Political Affairs,is visiting Nepal as the dealine approaches to conclude the peace process and constitution by the end of August.
It’s almost certain the deadline won’t be met again
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon telephoned Prime Minister Jhalanath Khana; Friday to express hope concrete progress will be made to institutionalize the peace process and complete, Baluwatar sources said.

TOP CHINESE DELEGATION ARRIVING
Kathmandu, 5 Aug.: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Yang Houlan paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, on Friday, RSS reports.

At the meeting that took place at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar, they discussed the bilateral relations, the relations between the Unified CPN (Maoist) and the Chinese Communist Party, among other topics, according to Damodar Timilsina, Press Advisor to DPM and Home Minister Shrestha.

On the occasion, they also held talks on convening the next round of talks at the Home Ministry level between the two countries and becoming sensitive to each other’s security.

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Shrestha expressed the commitment that Nepal’s territory would not be allowed to be used against any country. He also appreciated the Chinese government’s policy of non-interference in any other country’s internal affairs.

The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated that Nepal is committed to the ‘One China Policy’.

Chinese Ambassador Yang congratulated Minister Shrestha for his appointment to the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister and extended an invitation for visiting China.

Thanking the Chinese ambassador for the invitation, DPM Shrestha said he would visit China at an appropriate time.

On the occasion, Ambassador Yang gave the information that a high-level Chinese delegation led by the Standing Committee Member of the Chinese Communist Party and the Special Envoy of the Chinese President would be visiting Nepal from August 16-18, according to Timilsina.

FORMER CROWN PRINCE OFFERS PUJA AT BHAKTAPUR TEMPLE
Kathmandu, 5 Aug.: Former Prince Paras Shah expressed his concerned over deteriorating condition of the country.

Shah, who reached to worship at Pancha Maha Laxmi temple based in Chhaling VDC of Bhaktapur district at around 10 am on Friday, expressed his concern over the worsening political and financial condition of the country while talking to the media persons, RSS reports from Bhaktapur..

"I am also the citizen of this country, as one of the citizens of the country I feel sad seeing the poor development of the country," said Shah. "I am looking at the condition of my country," he added.

He complained that there was no good law and order, adding, if the law was strong national development is possible.

Shah held religious talks with Swami Kamalnayanacharya Muktinath Baba for around one hour and worshipped the goddess at 12 noon.

Meanwhile, actress Manisha Koirala also arrived in the temple at around 10:30. She came just to visit the temple and worship goddess Pancha Maha Laxmi, said Koirala. She did not come to meet former prince Paras saying it was only the coincidence.
