UNDATE NEPAL BEATS PAPUA NEW GUINEA BY 29 RUNS
Kathmandu, 7 Aug.: Nepal beat Papua New Guinea by 29 runs in the ICC U-19 World Cup 2012 Qualifying match in Dublin, Ireland, Sunday.
Nepal has won six matches and lost two and has already qualified for the World Cup 2012 in Australia and New Zealand.
Papua New Guinea was bowled out for 249 runs in 50 overs.

TWO POLICE OFFICERS ACQUITTED
Kathmandu, 7 Aug.: SSP Dr. Ajit Gurung and SP Dr. Ram Krishna Bhandari were cleared by a special court Sunday on charges by CIAA of their involvement in a Rs. 280 million uran scam for purchase of armoured personnel carriers (APC) for peacekeepers of Nepal Police (NP)
The two medical doctors were asked to present themselves at court when required.
NP peacekeepers were attached with the UN peacekeeping force in Darfur, Sudan.
The sub-standard APCs endangered the lives of Nepali peacekeepers.
Such APCs are acquired by Nepal which is reimbursed by UN.

NO MEETING OF SPECIAL COMMITTEE
Kathmandu, 7 Aug. Citing ill health of Prime Minister Jhanal, Khanal chairman of a special committee for integration, rehabilitation and supervision of former Maoist fighters, a scheduled of the committee wasn’t held Sunday.
At the committee meeting Thursday, Maoists decided to send back remaining PLA fighters on security duty of Maoist leaders, to cantonments and camps with their weapons.
The meeting was to discuss number, modality and procedure for integration as well.
Maoist leaders have said publicly the integration won’t be completed by the 31 August deadline.
A meeting of UML central committee was adjourned Sunday because of the ill health of the premier as well.

GOLD TRADED FOR RECORD RS. 46,600 PER TOLA
Kathmandu, 7 Aug.: Gold paws traded for a record price of Rs 46,600 per tola in the bullion market Sunday.
The price increased as the price of the yellow metal continued to rise in the international market.
Nepal Rashtra Bank (NRB) didn’t supplytraders with gold with the record increase.
